There are so many beautiful and profound quotes out there. I’m a sucker for them actually. I have a notebook that I have filled with these words, they give me comfort and help propel me forward.
Here are some of my favourites;
“Happiness is like a butterfly.The more you chase it, the more it eludes you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it comes and sits softly on your shoulder.” – Henry David Thoreau
“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I’ve ended up where I needed to be.” – Douglas Adams.
“It takes courage to love, but pain through love is the purifying fire which those who love generously know. We all know people who are so much afraid of pain that they shut themselves up like clams in a shell and, giving out nothing, receive nothing and therefore shrink until life is a mere living death.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” -Lao Tzu
“What the world needs most is openness: Open hearts, open doors, open eyes, open minds, open ears, open souls.” – Robert Muller
“The opinion which other people have of you is their problem, not yours.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie
“Rebellion against your handicaps gets you nowhere. Self-pity gets you nowhere. One must have the adventurous daring to accept oneself as a bundle of possibilities and undertake the most interesting game in the world — making the most of one’s best.” – Harry Emerson Fosdick
“Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing. Use the pain as fuel, as a reminder of your strength.” – August Wilson
“Chaos is a friend of mine.” – Bob Dylan
There are an endless supply of quotes, and this could be the post that doesn’t end. But what fun would that be? That is for another time, and several other posts down the line.
